5th International Symposium on Library Services For Children and Young Adults
“Fostering Children of the Nation’s Future: Children’s libraries”
June 9~10, 2011, South Korea
The National Library for Children and Young Adults (NLCY) invites speakers to present a paper for the 5th International Symposium. The symposium will take place between June 9 and 10, 2011, in South Korea. The NLCY holds the Annual International Symposium to improve library services for children and young adults and promote reading habits among them.
The following is the theme and subjects of interest. “Fostering Children of the Nation’s Future: Children’s libraries”Roles of librarians in enhancing reading comprehension of children and young adults- Cooperative partnership with other organizations and groups for better services and programs- Roles of libraries in developing children’s and youth literature- Partnership between libraries and the publishing for a better publication system- Library’s book awards program- Library outreach programs for children from multicultural or underprivileged families?-Professional development or continuing education programs for children’s librarians?-Reading promotion for young adults- Reading promotion using social network programs- How to run youth reading clubs more effectively-Future vision, promotion and evaluation of library services for children and young adults
We would like presenters to share their valuable knowledge and experience with Symposium participants. Should you be interested, please submit the proposal form. Proposals for papers should clearly indicate the interest it is for and include an abstract of no more than 800 words. You should send it by email to Ms. Eunbong Park( eunbong@nl.go.kr) before Feb. 18, 2011. The submissions will be evaluated and prospective speakers will be notified by Feb. 26, 2011 and must submit the full paper by Apr. 15, 2011 to allow time for its reviews and translation. Successful speakers will be provided with financial support including travel, accommodation, meals and insurance.
