ChaCha.com is looking to hire a dynamic Taxonomy Manager to champion and lead the implementation of our new information taxonomy.

This is a key role at ChaCha.com. We need an expert, on the cutting edge of semantic, web, and information technologies, that has the ability to work in a fast-paced business setting. Experience with taxonomy development is a must. Experience with Digital Reference highly preferred, which is why we are posting first here on DIG-REF.

Job Duties:
* Manage the development and implementation of a new taxonomical model around Internet content and Expert Guides.
— Creation and rollout of a new taxonomy that combines a top level hierarchy with managed organic growth using semantic techniques and analyses.
* Optimize the taxonomy with best practices in order to achieve and balance major organizational goals:
— Maximum query matching and answer reuse
— Maximum attractiveness to Expert Guides
— Effective public exposure of the taxonomy to Infoseekers
* Grow and modify the taxonomy to keep it relevant as needs and vocabularies evolve:
— Shifts in question volume and direction
— Expert Guide recruitment, retention and content development needs
— Language evolution and improved matching
— Content and Partner relationships
— Internationalization efforts
* Champion the taxonomy internally and externally:
— Ensure the value and integrity or the taxonomy in all development efforts
— Manage taxonomy-related communications to Guides and the public
— Assist Search University in the development of Guide educational materials.

Education:
· Bachelors degree required.
· Advanced degree strongly preferred in Information Science (MS), Library Science (MLS), or Linguistics.

Experience & Knowledge:
· 5+ years work experience in a related corporate, academic or library environment · 3+ years work experience in a specifically Taxonomy related position · Additional knowledge/experience preferred in the following areas:
— Information Architecture
— Web Search
— Semantic Web
— Social Networking and Web 2.0 technologies
— Software Development and Usability
— Reference Services
